How Dad would explain it
Some jobs are quick and predictable. Some jobs need a bay tied up for a while and the right parts sitting on the shelf.
Walk in for the quick ones. Book the longer ones. That is really the whole rule.
The only thing that costs you time is showing up unannounced for a job that needed a part ordered, then waiting around while we find out.
This is one of the most common questions we get on the phone, so here is the plain answer.
Walk in for: oil changes and emissions tests.
Book ahead for: brakes and tune-ups.
Either way, you are welcome at 2270 Cascade Road. Book an appointment if you would rather lock in a time, or call us at (404) 758-4672.
What You Can Walk In For
Oil changes. Usually under an hour when we are not backed up. Come on in. Full synthetic is $88 out the door, filter included. Here is everything included in an oil change.
Emissions tests. This is the best walk-in we offer. A Georgia emissions test with us is $20 and takes about 10 minutes. Most people are surprised how fast it goes. If you are coming at the end of the day or near closing, call first so you are not driving over for nothing.
Both of these are predictable jobs with parts we always have. That is what makes them walk-in friendly.
What Is Worth Scheduling
Brakes. A brake job ties up a bay for a real stretch, and the right pads or rotors for your specific vehicle have to be on hand. When you call ahead with your year, make, and model, we can have the parts ready when you arrive instead of after.
If you need it done the same day, we can often do that, and same-day service adds $50. Booking ahead for a scheduled day is how you avoid that charge.
Tune-ups. Same reasoning. The plugs your engine takes depend on how many cylinders you have and whether it needs premium iridium plugs. Telling us what you drive when you book means the parts are waiting.
What to Tell Us When You Call
Three things get you an accurate quote on the first try:
- Year, make, and model. This decides parts and price more than anything else.
- What the car is doing. Shaking when you brake, grinding, rough idle, a light on the dash. Describe it however it sounds to you. You do not need the right terminology.
- Whether you need it today. That changes what we can promise and whether the same-day charge applies.
If you are not sure what is wrong, that is completely fine. Plenty of people call and say the car is making a noise. We will ask a few questions and go from there.
Our Hours
- Monday through Friday: 8 AM to 6 PM, with the last appointment at 5:30
- Saturday: 9 AM to 2 PM
- Sunday: closed
Saturday fills up faster than any other day, so if that is your only option, booking ahead genuinely helps.
We are on Cascade Road, right next to The Beautiful Restaurant. Most of our customers come from a few minutes away in West End, Adair Park, Summerhill, Adamsville, Greenbriar, and East Point.
Do You Install Parts I Bring?
Usually we supply the parts ourselves. That is how the 10,000 mile and 10 month coverage on brake parts works, since we can only stand behind what we sourced.
There are some jobs where bringing your own part makes sense and we will quote you an install price. It depends on what it is. Call and ask rather than driving over with a box and hoping.
What Happens if a Part Has to Be Ordered
Sometimes we do not stock the exact part your vehicle needs, especially on European models or less common engines. When that happens we order it, which usually means coming back on a scheduled day once it arrives.
This is the single biggest reason to call before driving over for a bigger job. Five minutes on the phone can save you an afternoon.
How Booking Actually Works
You have three options, and none of them are better than the others:
- Online. Book an appointment any time, including after hours.
- Call. (404) 758-4672 during business hours. Best if you want to describe a problem or get a quote first.
- Just come by. For oil and emissions, this works fine.
You can see what everything costs on our pricing page before you decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I walk in for an oil change?
Yes. Oil changes are walk-in friendly and usually take under an hour when we are not backed up.
Do I need an appointment for an emissions test?
No. A Georgia emissions test is $20 and takes about 10 minutes. Call ahead if you are coming close to closing time.
Should I schedule brake work?
Yes, we recommend it. Brake jobs take longer and need the right parts for your vehicle on hand. Booking ahead also helps you avoid the $50 same-day charge.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday 8 AM to 6 PM with the last appointment at 5:30, Saturday 9 AM to 2 PM, and closed Sunday.
How much is same-day service?
Same-day service adds $50. Scheduling for a later day avoids it.
What should I bring?
Just the car and your keys. If you have records of recent work or know what your last shop said, that helps, but it is not required.
